Hello! I’m Dr Rupali Patel, a UK-trained dermatologist based in the West Midlands. I studied medicine at the University of Birmingham, where I completed both my medical degree and an additional Bachelor of Medical Science. I went on to complete my general medical training and MRCP before undertaking specialist training in dermatology across the West Midlands, including Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, Solihull Hospital, Walsall Hospital, City Hospital Birmingham and Warwick Hospital.
I completed my specialist dermatology training in 2026 and am registered on the General Medical Council Specialist Register for Dermatology. During my training I gained broad experience across general and medical dermatology, inflammatory skin conditions, skin cancer and dermatological surgery.
Alongside my clinical work, I have a strong interest in medical education. I completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education at the University of Dundee and previously worked as a Health Education West Midlands Digital Teaching Fellow in Dermatology. I have taught dermatology extensively to medical students and junior doctors, including delivering the University of Birmingham undergraduate dermatology curriculum.
I have also been actively involved in dermatology research and quality improvement. My research has included work in psoriasis and skin surgery, and I have presented dermatology research at national and international meetings including the British Association of Dermatologists and the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer. I was awarded the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology Michael Hornstein Memorial Scholarship in 2021 and was previously named Junior Doctor of the Year at Walsall Manor Hospital.
I enjoy making dermatology understandable and helping patients feel well informed about their diagnosis and treatment options. I believe that taking the time to explain things clearly is an important part of providing good dermatological care.
Outside of medicine, I enjoy playing the piano, yoga, handcrafting greeting cards and learning French.
